Besant Women’s College was established in the year 1977 to provide higher education to girls as a means to women’s empowerment. This is one of the few colleges in the district meant exclusively for women.

It was born out of the vision of Manel Srinivas Nayak, the renowned community leader and visionary who spearheaded the growth of WNES for almost 4 decades.

Besant Women’s College is affiliated to Mangalore University and is accredited to NAAC.
